He runs a popular Youtube channel where he shares sculpting and animation tutorials. Sometimes he shares fun short films that link together ingenious little animation experiments like the ones below.
He creates many magical stop-motion animations and I have no idea what he’s going to do next! His cartoons always surprise me. And the things he create always wired but look cool. Also the movement of his works are smoothly.
In this workshop, teacher taught us how to present the same object in different ways, so that it becomes a collection. This gives me an inspiration that I can use line sketch, colour painting, texture and tonal drawing to show the same object as my third collection– the collection recorded using drawing.
Collection 1 – tiny thingsCollection 2 – same colour thingsCollection 3 – type collectionCollection 4 – sound 10 of each of these thingsCollection 5- food recorded using drawing
This workshop is my start of the project of Collection. Through this workshop, I know how to collect and understand the commonality of these objects.
He collected 75 thousand pieces of MC Donald’s memorabilia. Mike’s career with MC Donald’s began as a teenager in 1968. When he was just 15 and when he aged 30, he actually owned a MC Donald’s restaurant.
“I have glasses, I have Happy meal toys, Happy meal displays, equipment, lapel pins. My table of contents is 398 different categories”
This video shows how do we get the stamp, how to display the stamp and how to identify the stamp. There are also some stamp collecting books introduction in this video.
It also remind me that when I collect the things, I need to check “is my collection real or fake”. And also find the best method to show my collection.
Her animations focus on depicting warm, trivial emotional stories in sad settings and environments. In any cases, she can draw a lot of small details that are indifferent and casual also take on a different luster under her brush.
She created many famous works, like Natsume’s Book of Friends, Hotarubi no Mori e,
Natsume’s Book of Friends
Hotarubi no Mori e
I also draw some characters of Natsume’s Book of Friends. I really like this animation and it gave me lots of inspiration to my final outcome’s story and the understanding of lives.
Every life has its own duties and rights. The animals around us have no right to sacrifice their lives for our human society to do some scientific experiments.
Claire Belton is an illustrator and entrepreneur, best known for creating the popular cartoon cat, Pusheen. It is very popular on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
Actually, I have a reference to Pusheen for the formation of the background of the first scene of my final animation. Especially this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV4Ae5TXb6w (the background is so adoroble!)
I really like her drawing style and I feel relaxed after watching the animation.
This is my final outcome. It tells the story of animals kept in cages all their lives. These animals often never see sunlight or even can’t walk. Then they will be died as the experiment or dinner.
It sounds harsh, but that’s the way it is. For the sake of fame and wealth, some scientists usually do some impossible experiments with animals. They may think that after doing these experiments, they will become famous and even make some contribution and influence to human society. But in the process, there are thousands of sets and tens of thousands of animals die. I think animals have no duty or responsibility from birth to death and contribute their own lives to human society. Of course, these animals have been forced into this situation. For this matter, the only thing I can do now is to draw some animations about the prohibition of cruelty to animals to make some publicity, hoping that people will pay more and more attention to this matter.
This is the first time I’ve done frame by frame animation. It may not look very smooth, but I think this animation does a good job of expressing what I want to express. In this animation, I particularly like the plot that at the 6th second, the transition is made with the blood of the mouse. I think this process is very rendering. Although in the animation, there is only one mouse died, but after a long time of accumulated experiments, the blood of these mice is more and more, and finally overflow the whole picture.
However, I think this animation is not detailed enough, so I think I need to add some more details to this animation, such as the texture of the cages and the softness of the ball when it lands. At the 15th second, I should add a few more frames of the dog running and jumping as well.
I also made some adjustments to this animation. In the one-to-one tutorial with the teacher, we discussed together that the color of the text of the animation was not too prominent, so I changed my color to black and white according to the teacher’s advice. Here is the comparison.
At the beginning, I copied some characteristic animated images in my sketchbook. In the process, I want to create my own character in my project. And according these characters, I know that my character”s emotion would be rich, that will express his feeling better.
After that, I started thinking about how to create characters. Since I wanted to study animal rights and cruelty to animals, I came up with the idea of reversing the relationship between humans and animals, so I drew characters like the following.
Next, I had four outcome ideas for this project, and I created storyboards for each of those ideas. Finally I chose my first idea, the animals in the laboratory.

Then, I considered that what kind of story and what kind of painting techniques should I use to express this project. And I watched An animation on Youtube, it gives me lots of inspiration.
So I decided the “silhouette” to create my animation.
